Thomas Beatman does work in science communication, developing tools and resources to better convey complex biological processes for assorted audiences. His dissertation, titled Integrating Game-Design Knowledge and Education Theory to Communicate Biology Content, illustrated how modern board game design can be enable biological processes to be conveyed intuitively.

Thomas received his Bachelor of Science in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology from the University of New Hampshire in 2010, a Master of Science in Molecular Life Sciences from Jacobs University Bremen in 2012, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Integrated Bioscience from the University of Akron. He has in the past worked in labs studying arachnology and biotechnology, and now applies his biology background to science communication research and development.
