Thomas Beatman is an Integrated Biosciences PhD candidate in the Biology Department at the University of Akron. His work is on the theory and application of using games and gameful experiences in science education, with a focus on understanding biodiversity.

Thomas received his Bachelor of Science in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology from the University of New Hampshire in 2010, and a Master of Science in Molecular Life Sciences from Jacobs University Bremen in 2012. He has in the past worked in labs studying arachnology and biotechnology, and now applies his biology background to science communication research and development.
